1st ICONIC Project Meeting at Politecnico di Torino (Italy), 4-5th May 2017

22nd May 2017

By Sascha Serno

We recently ran our 1st ICONIC Project Meeting at Politecnico di Torino in central Turin (Italy) from 4-5th May 2017. This meeting followed on a workshop on 2nd May and the mid-term review meeting of our partner ITN project FULLCOMP on 3rd May at Politecnico di Torino. We could welcome representatives from almost all beneficiaries, from one partner organisation and external stakeholder Bombardier Transportation to our project meeting.

The first day of our Project Meeting in Turin, at rather British weather, kicked-off in the impressive Salone d’Onore of the Castello del Valentino in the morning with introduction talks by the ICONIC Early Stage Researchers that have already started their ICONIC projects, or by the main supervisors of the various research projects. We welcomed the opportunity to hear from seven of the twelve FULLCOMP Early Stage Researchers about their background, project work and research experience within an EU Horizon 2020 ITN project. The rest of the first day was reserved for management, outreach, dissemination and training planning updates and news. The day was rounded up by an excellent and rich dinner at Amici Miei in central Turin.

The second day of our Project Meeting was dedicated for our board and group meetings. The meetings were conducted at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of Politecnico di Torino. We finished off the 1st ICONIC Project Meeting with a group lunch near the University and a guided tour at the Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile Turin.

We would like to thank all staff at Politecnico di Torino that helped to organise the 1st ICONIC Project Meeting, in particular Prof. Erasmo Carrera and Marco Petrolo. We would like to acknowledge the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme for funding ICONIC under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 721256.
