Prof. Erasmo Carrera

Experience:

Prof. Erasmo Carrera is Professor of Aerospace Structures and Aeroelasticity at POLITO. He is the founder and leader of the MUL2 group at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He introduced the CUF (Carrera Unified Formulation) as a tool to build a new framework in which beam, plate, and shell theories can be developed for metallic and composite multi-layered structures under mechanical, thermal, electrical, and magnetic loadings. He has authored some 500 publications, including books and international journal papers, with an h-index of 50 (Scopus). He is a Highly Cited Researcher (top 100 Scientist, 2013 and 2015) by Thompson Reuters in two sections, Engineering and Materials. During the last two decades, he has supervised tens of PhD and MSc students. He has recently coordinated European projects, including the H2020-MSCA-ITN ETN FULLCOMP, and organised international conferences on composite structures.

Assistant Prof. Marco Petrolo

Experience:

Prof. Marco Petrolo is Assistant Professor at POLITO. He works in the MUL2 group at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His research activity deals with the structural analysis of composite lifting surfaces, refined beam, plate and shell models, and component-wise approaches, damage analysis and axiomatic/asymptotic analyses. He is author and co-author of some 90 publications, including 2 books and 40 journal articles (h-index = 17, Scopus). He is involved in the coordination of some European projects, including the H2020-MSCA-ITN ETN FULLCOMP.

Prof. Giovanni Belingardi

Experience:

Prof. Giovanni Belingardi is Full Professor of Machine and Vehicle Design at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering of POLITO. His research activities in the recent years are mainly devoted to vehicular body structures, with particular attention to crashworthiness and lightweight design. In this perspective, he has developed a number of research projects related to the use of composite material for structural innovative solutions. He is the author of more than 270 papers published in international scientific journals or presented in international conferences, with 1177 citations yielding an h-Index of 17 (source: WoS). He has supervised about twenty PhD theses. He has been involved in the EU funded Projects since FP4; the most relevant European projects where he has acted as the local Research Unit Coordinator are COMPASS, ADVANCE, APROSYS, SLC, GAST, OPTIBODY.

Associate Prof. Davide S. Paolino

Experience:

Prof. Davide S. Paolino is Associate Professor at POLITO’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. His research activities are mainly focussed on: a) Impact and fatigue damage of composite laminates; b) Very-High-Cycle Fatigue (VHCF) of metallic materials; c) Statistical modelling of fatigue, reliability data, and design and analysis of experiments for different applications (automotive, mechanical, biomedical). He is author and co-author of more than 50 peer-reviewed papers published in international scientific journals or presented in international conferences, with 420 citations yielding an h-Index of 9 (source: Scopus). Since 2010, he has supervised two PhD and twelve MSc students, and has been involved in the EU funded projects SLC, Pressure Rolling and COMPASS.
